East Village Coffee Lounge and Kiki Wow present talented singer-songwriter Katherine Lavin and her band on Friday, March 27, 7pm-9pm. Don't miss this intimate show with a local up-and-coming musician! $10 suggested donation.
Don't be fooled by her age - this 11-year-old singer/songwriter puts on a great show and can rock. At the age of 8, Katherine began turning heads while playing at local open mic nights in Pacific Grove and Monterey. She enjoyed playing cover songs with her own vocal flair and style, and began showcasing her newly written original songs.
After two years of playing at open mic nights, in April of 2019, Katherine was invited to play 60-minute sets on both days at the Pacific Grove Good Old Days. For the first time, rather than a solo performance, she included her two uncle-in-laws on bass and electric guitar and her mom on drums. The two shows were very popular at the festival and created a local buzz. Throughout the summer of 2019, she could often be found playing on Friday nights from 6pm-9pm, filling the patio of the Monarch Pub/Restaurant in Pacific Grove. She also played as part of the Pacific Grove Summer Series at the Beach House Cafe. Amazingly, she plays nearly all songs from memory, even during her 3-hour sets.
One of her favorite shows was on July 27th, 2019, when she and her band played an hour-long set of originals and covers on the Lovers Point Pier in Pacific Grove prior to the Annual Feast of Lanterns Celebration and Fireworks.
